Last week we met with a business owner and his wife who have recently started a business that moves large hospital equipment. Like many business owners, the husband brought his wife into the business to handle the accounting and invoicing. She had no background handling this type of work so she was learning as she went along.
We met with her and realized quickly that she was doing a great job of tracking their business activity, invoicing their clients, and understanding what projects they had upcoming. At this point in the business, they did not need a CFO. She just needed someone to lean on for questions and to obtain guidance on financial topics as their business grows.
